pls singular answer the question and dont recommend amd or other stuff. unless unsurprisingly you want points

Turnover on pc hardware is similar to 6 months. Whether you buy now or lurk, there will be a price drop or something alien coming out. I have that processor and it works great. Just find a motherboard that'll support quad-core so if after a few years your computer isn't as fast as you want it, basically get the quad chip. I articulate get the chip because quad core is already out and they still haven't dropped core 2 duo prices that much but.
Wait a bit... AMD will introduce new processors and Intel will drop the price on several CPUs... I a moment ago dont remember in which month will be that...
Intel only just announced the Quad core, that'll drop the price for core 2 duo. I'd stay away from AMD tough.
ANYTIME A NEW CHIP IS MADE THE OLDER ONES WILL COME DOWN IN PRICE. DEPENDS IF YOU WANT TO BUY NOW OR LATER.
The prices may drop next summer when AMD releases their trial chips, assuming these new AMD chips retake the gig lead, implication Intel has to cut prices to compete (which most promising will happen). But as for in the subsequent 2-3 months, I don't see any reason why nearby would be a sizeable price drop, the prices have pretty much stabilized, surrounded by fact the price on modern egg has gone up $8 since I bought mine concluding month.
