Setting concrete disk drives to Auto Detect surrounded by Bios?

Need info on how to walk into bios and set hard disk drive controlers to "AUTO detect.Computer is a Dell GX1 Optiplex,beside Windows XP Home edition.Please give step by step instructions and what key to use on all info.New to Computers,beginer,Help please.

On the Dell GX1 you will hold to enter the bios. When the pc starts up hit the F2 knob to run the setup utility.



Next you will have to scroll down to primary drive 0. It should be already be set, by defaulting to auto detect. If not, you can manually change the setting. The remedy to change the setting should be the space pole or +/-.



When you have finished making change make sure you set free your settings. Once you save your settings exit and turn past its sell-by date the machine. Turn the gadget back on and it will detect the drives.

the auto detect is default for the bios, it the system is not seeing the clean drive you might have a hardware or install problem.



details? IDE, SATA, SATA2....what gentle of HD did you install? Also check to make sure you set the pins on the rear of the drive to slave if the system already had a HD and you added a second one.
