I purchased an SATA harddrive but when i open my computer up there be an ide drive installed. Are within such cables thaat i can buy that will convert the older ide cable to work with the SATA rugged drive?
SATA/IDE Hard drive comfort?
1. You DON'T want to do that. SATA is SO MUCH FASTER than IDE.
2. If you have ONLY IDE connectors on your motherboard, after you will not have drivers to net it work anyway. SO - Go buy an IDE.
Only mix apples & apples
OH - OK - you could get an interface card, too.
Your motherboard have to have an onboard SATA port. That's where on earth you start first.
Yes there are IDE to SATA adapters.
You could draw from an adapter or a card for your computer that will add SATA know-how.
