I own a Sony Vaio VGC-RB30 computer, the factory dvd rw drive is a DW-D22A.
The drive will no longer read dvds at all but will read cds and I've be troubleshooting it for weeks, trying updated firmwares, etc. Nothing has worked so I want to buy a topical drive.
I need a guidance for a good replacement. And also I have need of to know, are all dvd rw drives all-purpose, meaning can I be sure anything I get will fit right contained by the computer?
Replacing dvd rw drive contained by desktop computer, hold question...?
As far as compatability, any internal dvd drive will fit fine. They are relatively easy to replace.
Most drives are like size.
Look for a DVD burner at http://www.newegg.com when you do the search, you can SORT it out BY RATING, so you see what other associates think are the BEST.
OR, you can jump to STAPLES and buy one. They sell a SONY DVD Burner next to Double Layer burning for about $85. The angelic part more or less Staples is their return policy. If you don't like it, merely take it wager on. (hold on to that receipt).
Good luck and Happy Computing!
I had indistinguishable problem but 2 days ago I called the company I boought it past its sell-by date ,DELL, and they sent me a new one, for free.
Ring the company who made your computer and they will enlighten you what to do.
They are pretty universal, DVD drives are a moment ago the evolution of CD drives and those connect to the internal cable specifically used by the hard drive so those are pretty much standard. There does exist exceptions, approaching external (usb, firewire).
