I'm using P-4 using Motherboard of Gigabyte d845 beside intel processor 2.66ghz. Problem is after reinstalling winXP I'm not able to win the sound even the evasion sound when window starts, and I'm not able to play any music or movie. Though I own installed AC'97 Realtek Audio driver. What is the exact problem i'm not able to find out pls facilitate .......

Is your sound muted?
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Volume Control
Make sure that the Mute All box is not ticked.
Also, for the Wave column, net sure the bar is not right at the bottom, otherwise, you will hear no nouns.
After making sure your speakers are COMPLETELY plugged in, this may nouns trivial, but you should actually push on the plug to ensure it is completely surrounded by. I would also check the volume of the speakers. Go to Start , then All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control, check to trade name sure that nothing is muted or the volume slider is not adjectives the way down. If none of that works, try uninstalling and reinstalling the nouns driver.
open the control panel click on nouns and audio devices click on the volume tab make sure there's not a tick surrounded by the mute box also make sure the slider mottled device volume is fully to the right for full volume if they're greyed out the driver hasn't been installed properly
