Hi
My PC will just boot up in Safe Mode
I call for to retrieve data from it so I can update the OS
I'm running Windows 98 (yes, I know, hence the upgrade)
What's the best course of performance?
If I re-instal Windows 98 I'll lose my data
Safe Mode Data Retrieval?
couple of option:
- remove the hard disk and put it surrounded by as a secondary HD, so you can install a hot OS on a fresh disk and still access the data on this one
- install window XP over the windows 98 installation, this will not delete your facts
- use the original window 98 install disk, boot from that and try a system repair
Good luck
you can backup your data from sheltered mode, backup the important files, afterwards format your PC and install the operating system again
i would create a new divider, this can be done with the xp install disk. receive xp up and running, copy over all the files you obligation from the old hedge to the new xp barrier, then use a screen program to remove the win 98 partition.
Aced_Zebr is the most acurate
since you took great force in answering my put somebody through the mill which you seem to know absolutley zilch about i will afford you like peas in a pod courtesy.
you need to install your firewall or anti-virus selectively
put it on disc
no assessment
if you dont know what you're doing pay someone
it depends be you have save your data.
