Riviera soundcard is have trouble outputting surround contained by Windows XP digitally?

I am running the most recent variation of XP professional edition and outputting via digital cable to my Home Theater system as a passthrough. For some reason it singular does surround sound when running a DVD player. All else is surrounded by LPCM. I would RELLY like to be capable of have my games (Doom 3, Quake 4, Civ 4) be capable of output in surround as all right as my video files. please help
